About Isa Gitana

Isa Guitana is a well experienced teacher that recently received the blessing of Guruji Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. In this lineage, the blessing is the recognition of the dedication to the practice and the study of Yoga and it attests the competence to teach.

Between 1996 and 2000 she was in contact with some systems of Yoga, but only after being introduced to Ashtanga Yoga by Tarik van Prehn she felt how much she wanted to deepen her personal practice.

After being with Tomas Zorzo and receiving his encouragement to go to India, she travels for the first time to Mysore in 2002, to study at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute, under the supervision of Guruji (Sri K. Pattabhi Jois) and his grandson Sharath Rangaswami.

Soon after, she had the opportunity of teaching Ashtanga Yoga in Singapura, Malaysia and Bali (Indonesia). In the end of 2003 she turns back to Portugal to rejoin her first students and she founds the Casa Vinyasa – Ashtanga Yoga Shala in Lisbon. Ever since, she has been returning to Mysore every year and in 2008 she was authorized by Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute to teach this system.

Along these years she has studied with authorized and certified teachers like Tomas Zorzo, Camino Diez, Rolf Naujokat and Matt Corigliano. She went also to London and New York to meet Guruji and Sharath while they were teaching in the Occident. Since 2001 she organizes retreats and workshops with the above-mentioned teachers in Portugal and abroad.
