Porto – Conference: The Alchemy of Pain, by Tsering Paldrön
Thursday, February 12, 2009, a conference with the buddhist nun Tsering Paldrön entitled “The Alchemy of Pain “, or “How to Transform Suffering” will take place in Junta de Freguesia of Massarelos, in Porto – Portugal.
Tsering Paldrön was born and studied in Lisbon and lived more than twenty years abroad. She became buddhist in 1974 and nun in 1999. She’s been teaching buddhism for more than 16 years and is author of two books: “A Arte da Vida, Valores humanos no pensamento Budista” (The Art of Life, Human Values in the Buddhist Thought) and “A Alquimia da Dor, Conselhos budistas para transformar o sofrimento” (The Alchemy of Pain, Buddhist Advices to Transform Suffering). She is also coauthor of a third book: “A dignidade e o sentido da vida” (The dignity and the sense of life). She is vice-president of the Uniao Budista Portuguesa (Portuguese Buddhist Union) and President of AMARA, (Portuguese) Association for the Dignity in Life and Death. Recently she published a book of stories for children “As aventuras de Tachi, o grilo tibetano” (The adventures of Tachi, the tibetan cricket”. She has been invited to teach regularly in Portugal, France, Belgium, England and Tahiti.
