Portugal: Dharma Celebration of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union

Schools of the New Kadampa Tradition in Portugal promote the Dharma Celebration 2009, in its fourth edition, imparting Jê Tsongkapa’s Tantric Initiation and teachings on the Heart Jewel.
The teachings and initiation will be granted by Guen-la Kelsang Khyenrab, Subdirector of the New Kadampa Tradition (NKT) and Spiritual National Director of Portugal.
The New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union, founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, is an international association of the Mahayana Buddhism of study and meditation centres.
Kadampa Buddhism is a Maháyána Buddhist school founded by the great Indian Buddhist Master Atisha (982-1054).
The Teachings
The subject of teaching this year will be the Heart Jewel which is a special Guru Yoga of Jê Tsongkapa combined with the prayer to the protector Dorje Shugden.
These teacinhs, which were transmitted by the Wisdom Buddha Manjushri (Mañjuśrī) in the Kadam Emanation Scripture, are the central practice of the Kadampa Buddhist Tradition.
The Initiation
An initiation is a special ceremony in which we receive the blessings of an enlightened being and establish close connection with him.
Guen-la Khyenrab will grant the Jê Tsongkapa’s initiation. Jê Tsongkapa is an enlightened being which is the manifestation of wisdom, compassion and spiritual power of all Buddhas. By receiveing this initiation with a sincere mind of faith, we can develop our own compassion and wisdom, and find the necessary power to make progress on our spiritual path.
The Dharma Celebration is a national event that takes place annually in different points in Portugal and in which people from around the world have the opportunity to meet and hear the Dharma, to meditate and to share their experience with others.

Language: The teaching will be transmitted in English and simultaneousely translated into Portuguese. The meditations will be guided in Portuguese.
Meals
There are several restaurants near the celebration site where the participants can make have meals.
The price of meals is not included in the price of the activity.
