USA – Colorado: The 2nd Annual Telluride Yoga Festival, Dedicated to Sri K. Pattabhi Jois

In honor of the founder of Ashtanga Yoga, world-class yoga instructors lead a wide range of workshops at festival with expanded public programs, music and performances, and a commitment to environmentalism.
With the recent passing of Ashtanga’s loving founder, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, the Telluride Yoga Festival is being dedicated to honor his memory and the yogic wisdom he spread across the globe. Founded in Telluride and nestled in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, the three-day festival was created with a commitment to protect and preserve the environment by donating 25 percent of the festival’s net proceeds annually to non-profit environmental organizations. Proceeds of the 2009 Festival will be donated to the Telluride chapter of the Nature Conservancy.
The event will begin with daily morning meditation followed by three two-hour workshops, and will feature a variety of free public events for participants and families, including:
- An evening sunset Kirtan opened by Prema Shakti and led by David Russell and Holly Hartmann
- Yoga performances by Júlia Horn of Tripsichore Yoga and Amity Mead
- Spinning pyrotechnics display by local welder, artist and pyro-maestro Anton Viditz-Ward
- Hula Hooping, Monkey Chanting and Acro-yoga
- Lectures on holistic health, green living, eco-tourism, vedic astrology, how to setup a home yoga practice space, and more.
There are workshops and sessions for all levels, from beginner to seasoned
Individuals: The event cost is $395 for the three days.
Teachers
The 2009 Festival features na impressive line-up of master teachers from the most established yoga traditions, including: Richard Freeman & David Swenson (Ashtanga), Scott Blossom (Vinyasa & Ayurveda), Tias Little (Prajna Yoga), Sarah Powers (Insight Yoga), Chandra Easton (Yin Yoga & Buddhist Meditation), and Alanna Kaivalya (Jivamukti Yoga Method). In addition to the established, renowned master teachers, three of the Festival’s 2009 Instructors – Scott Blossom, Chandra Easton and Alanna Kaivalya – were recognized in Yoga Journal’s 2008 list of “Top 21 Yoga Instructors Under 40”.
