Parede – Portugal: Workshop on Vinyasa Yoga at CEY
Parede – Cascais, Portugal | March 21, 2009
Yoga teacher Simão Monteiro will conduct a workshop on Vinyasa Yoga at the Centre of Yoga Studies (CEY) in Parede (Cascais).
Vinyasa Krama, as this system is known, is a systematic method to study, to practice, to teach and to adapt Yoga to each apprentice, leading him or her to build a logical and progressive sequence of ásanas, combined with appropriate breathing, bandhas (compressions or energy locks) and drishtis (“attentiveness”).
It is an old physical and spiritual practice of human development. Vinyasa Krama integrates body and mind through the breathing. The mind when following the breathing becomes part of the whole process, taking the apprentice to a state of deep quietness.
Program:
- Vinyasa Krama: each ásana (and its variations) is connected with the following one, through a succession of specific transitory movements synchronized with the breathing.
- The alignment of the ásana; the fluidity of the vinyasa; the energies of the bandhas; the rhythms of the pránáyáma and the “attentiveness” on the drishtis.
- Vinyasa Yoga’s three parameters
- The langhana and brahmana kriyá concepts
- How to breathe in the beginning, permanence and ending of the ásanas
- Adapting the practice to the apprentice
- Practice of ásanas and pratikriyásanas (counter-postures)
- Relaxation and meditation
